HELICOBACTER PYLORI INFECTION

Helicobacter pylori is a major human pathogen, the causative agent of chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer, gastric cancer and atrophy of gastric mucosa. The conventional therapy for H. pylori infection includes the combination of antibiotics and a proton-pump inhibitor. Treatments of H. pylori infection show different eradication rates and adverse gastrointestinal side effects (nausea, diarrhea, etc.). Addition of probiotics as adjuvants for H. pylori antibiotic treatments can increase eradication rate and decrease side effects.
